Engagement Ring Guide

The WWAKE Approach

An engagement ring is personal in every way, and so is our approach to designing them. However you choose to honor this moment, our approach starts by meeting you there: matching our own point of view on design with a ring that feels undeniably like you. Tradition isn't a rulebook. Our approach to engagement rings leads with the freedom to keep it, discard it, or reinvent it entirely. Continuing a ritual is beautiful, but so is starting your own. Either way, what we're always designing for is a ring you'll love wearing every day, one that reflects your story and however you choose to mark what matters to you.

Where Your Ring Begins

Whether you're with us in our Brooklyn Studio or exploring the collection online, we're here to guide you through how to choose an engagement ring, and everything that opens up: the silhouettes, the stones, the styles that speak to you, all considered against what you feel comfortable spending and how a ring will actually live in your daily life. There are endless routes an engagement ring can follow: sometimes clients arrive already certain of what they want. Just as often, someone is surprised by the silhouette or stone they’re drawn to. Wherever you're starting from, we're here for all of it. Book a consultation, in our Brooklyn studio or virtually, and we'll walk through it together.

Signature Silhouettes

Shop [75]

Our signature WWAKE engagement ring silhouettes are evolved expressions of classic forms, each one a different engagement ring style for holding or reimagining tradition, however you define it: gold and precious stones of heirloom quality, set with the diamond or gemstone shape you choose. Every silhouette is built in solid gold that is either Fairmined or certified recycled, and natural stone that is responsibly sourced and chosen to hold its history. Explore the different styles of engagement rings below to find where your own thinking begins.

1
Nestled Rings Shop [11][11]
[lifestyle]Round Brilliant Cut Diamond Nestled Ring

The Nestled Ring takes the traditional solitaire and rethinks its center of gravity: a main stone that appears to float weightlessly, held aloft by a smaller stone beneath it. One of our first designs, and now a WWAKE signature, it adapts across a range of curved diamond and gemstone cuts.

2
Monolith Rings Shop [27][27]
[lifestyle]Horizontal Emerald Cut Diamond Monolith Ring

The Monolith is Nestled's reverse: where Nestled finds equilibrium in lightness, Monolith finds it in substance. A cigar band rebuilt around the stone it carries, proportioned by weight rather than air. Wear it alone as an engagement ring and wedding band in one, or layer it into a stack over time.

3
Signet Rings Shop [30][30]
Oval Cut Diamond Beaded Signet Ring No. 2

Signet rings have always marked identity, once worn to carry a family crest or personal insignia. Ours holds that history in a single stone set low and close in a softly rounded band: unisex by design, restraint and presence together.

4
Dyad Signet Rings Shop [9][9]
Emerald Cut Diamond Dyad Signet Ring No. 20

The Dyad Signet is our take on the classic Toi et Moi silhouette: a predominant stone and a smaller secondary stone, held apart by precise negative space. Tension and harmony held in perfect balance.

5
Ridge Ring Sets Shop [10][10]
Marquise Step Cut Diamond Beaded Solitaire Ring No. 13

The Ridge Solitaire takes the classic silhouette and turns it sideways: an east-to-west setting as subtle but deliberate departure from the expected. A fine ridge runs the length of the band, two forms, joined into one

Choosing Your Diamond

Shop [25]

Our diamond specialists simplify the search of finding the diamond that speaks to you, sourcing certified stones that both meet our standards for one-of-a-kind character and heirloom quality, and that will set beautifully inside our signature silhouettes.

The range spans the full spectrum, from the clarity of a classic bright white to softer tones with a champagne warmth or candlelit glow, all certified, with color, clarity, cut, and carat listed. Our specialists can walk you through what sets each one apart, or you can start with our Diamond Guide.

Choosing Your Gemstones

Shop [20]

Gemstones widen the range even further: minty tourmalines, magenta-toned rubies, sapphires that shift between two hues in a single stone. Each is wholly singular, shaped by the earth it came from.

For an engagement ring, choosing a gemstone opens up another way of making the piece your own. A sapphire or other natural stone can bring color, character, and personal significance to a familiar form, or become the starting point for something less expected. There is no single stone an engagement ring needs to begin with, only the one that feels right for you.

Choosing Your Engagement Ring

From settings and natural stones to materials, personalization, custom design, and heirloom resetting, explore answers to common questions about finding and creating an engagement ring with WWAKE.

WWAKE offers a range of settings, including bezel, half-bezel, flush, and various prong settings, each offering a different balance of stone visibility, protection, and overall silhouette. Consider the shape and scale of the center stone, how much of the stone you want exposed, your everyday lifestyle, and whether you plan to wear the ring alongside a wedding band.

You can browse our Ceremonial Collection online, explore select styles through our At-Home Try-On program, or book an appointment at our Brooklyn showroom to view and try on the rings in person. Our Fine Jewelry Specialists can guide you through the options and help you find a setting that works for your stone and the way you intend to wear it.

Entirely Your Own

Not every ring begins with one of our signature silhouettes. Some start with an idea, a stone, a piece of family history, or the willingness to be surprised. This is where Custom and One of a Kind begin. All our Custom and One of a Kind stones are held to our fullest standard of transparency: each one traceable, with a fully documented history.

Custom Engagement Ring

A custom ring lets your vision lead. We recommend this route when what you're imagining falls outside our signature collection: a stone cut or color outside our signature collection, a family heirloom ready to be carried forward, an antique stone waiting for a new setting. No matter what expression it takes, we'll shape it together from start to finish with our team.

One of a Kind Engagement Rings

Our One of a Kind rings hold space for the unexpected. This small, ever-evolving collection is built around our own breadth of design and experimentation: singularly idiosyncratic stones, forms shaped by exploration, each piece made to exist exactly once.
